Quality Assurance
Working principle (PDF, 139 kB)
Food Industry
To assure a consistent product quality during the manufacturing process of food is of extreme importance. The flavours of food and beverages arise through molecular interactions between the chemical compounds of the ingredients as well as according to the receptors of the human nose and tongue. Thus the analysis of the volatile flavours of food plays a key role with respect to a fast and cost effective control of the product quality.
The A-IMS equipped with a membrane inlet system can be directly applied for an introduction of the gas sample. The acquired characteristic spectra are analysed with the multivariate software airspect, so that the system can be used for different analytical applications (e.g. different types of Cola, cheese, coffees etc).

Manufacturing of Industrial Gases
The requirements concerning purity of industrial gases and gas mixtures are becoming more and more demanding for the manufacturers as well as their customers, causing continuous challenges during manufacturing, quality control and the use of which. Gases of highest purity are particularly examined with regard to trace impurities according to the product requirements, calling for an analytical method with an outstanding sensitivity. The analytical methods to detect these trace impurities are usually complex, time and cost intensive.
The A-IMS made by G.A.S. is able to detect a great many of substances and compounds at trace level (ppbv-,pptv-range) and delivers a result of the gas quality within a few seconds.

Impurities in Natural Gas – Analysis of BTX
Besides sulphurous compounds aromatics like benzene, toluene and xylene (BTX) belong to the most important contaminants of Natural Gas. The detection of these substances is typically carried out by analysing the collected gas samples with a gas chromatograph. If there is a longer time gap between sampling and analysis, the stability of the compounds have to be taken into consideration.
A fast and continuous on-site analytic can secure a more precise result and save the transport as well as a time consuming and costly lab analysis.
The UV-IMS-Portable made by G.A.S. excels in its outstanding sensitivity for aromatic compounds. A fast chromatographic pre-separation allows a quantification of all three BTX-compounds in natural gas down to the low ppmv-range within less than three minutes.
