FlavourSpec®

The combination of a GC coupled to an IMS allows a fast and enhanced selectivity of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) detection in the headspace of solid and liquid samples of food and beverages within 3 to 7 mintes. The FlavourSpec® further consists of an automatic headspace injector, a very easy menu as well as G.A.S.’ in-house data acquisition, -analysis, and visualization software LAV. Besides the possibility of quantifying single compounds, the purpose-made software allows to match the peak pattern with sensory wise defined flavours. The result classifies unknown samples and characterizes e.g. their quality. This concept corresponds to the so-called electronic nose, whereas the FlavourSpec does a physical separation/detection of the volatile compounds due to its GC-IMS arrangement.

An outstanding user friendliness could be achieved, making the FlavourSpec® an innovative and trend setting analytical tool allowing its application in several analytical questions of the food & beverage industry like: Control of storage conditions and packing materials, food freshness, control and optimisation of production processes, flavour evaluation and stability, test and authentication of raw materials and/or products etc.
